About Us

In order to make lasting changes both internationally and here in the UK, we make grants to organisations with a track record of delivering innovative and effective projects. We believe that the Trust and its beneficiaries have contributed to the recognition of a wide range of environmental issues. These include the environmental impacts of aviation, a greater understanding of the role that rainforests play in managing our climate, the broad acceptance of the benefits of sustainable regeneration and the role of renewable energy in helping create a low carbon future. We have enabled great numbers of individuals to participate effectively in developing their communities and environments.

The Trust’s long-term focus on climate change, sustainable development and improving the quality of life in poorer communities allows us to explore a range of ways to tackle these enormous challenges under seven category headings:

Sustainable Development International
Sustainable Development UK
Sustainable Regeneration
People at Risk
Arts and Sustainability
Social Investment Fund
Low Carbon Fund

The Ashden Trust recognises the importance of cutting its own carbon emissions and has therefore signed up to the 10:10 campaign. While we have already made impressive savings to the energy we use at our office, we are determined to reduce our carbon footprint further. To this end we have implemented a cycle to work scheme, installed motion-sensitive lighting and introduced video-conferencing facilities to reduce staff travel. Over the coming months and years we hope to extend the scope of these changes and implement new carbon-cutting measures to create as sustainable and eco-friendly an office as possible.
