SOCIAL INVESTMENT FUND
This category supports charitable activities through loans (at rates equivalent to commercial and low-interest loans) and in some cases an equity stake in organisations which meet the trust's charitable objectives. This category is a response to requests by grant recipients and beneficiaries.
This year the trust has made an interest-free loan to Tropical Wholefoods, a fair trade company which purchases dried fruit and vegetables from small scale producers in the developing world. It builds partnerships with small businesses in Africa and Asia to provide them with improved access to expertise and markets.
