NEF's programme of work on climate change and the benefits of small-scale renewable energy

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

If your organisation has a proven track record in supplying local, sustainable energy solutions in the UK or in the developing world then you should read the guidelines for the Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy.

The Ashden Trust is one of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts. Before applying to one of the trusts, please read the guidelines below.

  1. The trust does not normally fund individuals for projects, educational fees or to join expeditions. If you apply for a grant in one of these categories, we are afraid the trustees are unable to help. If you are a registered charity or institution with charitable status applying for a grant we must warn you that only an extremely small number of unsolicited applications are successful.
  2. Do not apply to more than one of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts. Each application will be considered by each trust which may have an interest in this field.

  3. All of the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts have pro-active grant-making policies and have chosen to concentrate their support in a limited number of activities. If you have read through the Ashden Trust's website and feel your project fits into the trust's priorities we would be very interested to hear from you by post (see details below).
  4. The trustees generally do not make grants in response to unsolicited applications.

If you would like to apply to the trust you should send a brief description of the proposed project, by post only, to:

Alan Bookbinder
Director
Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts
1st Floor Allington House
150 Victoria Street
London SW1E 5AE

The proposed project needs to cover:

  • Why the project is needed;
  • How, where, when the project will be delivered;
  • Who will benefit and in what way;
  • Income and expenditure budget;
  • Details of funding - secured, applied for;
  • Description of the organisation.

Please do not send any more than 2-4 sides of A4 when applying to the trust, at this point additional material is unnecessary.
